WordPress: Homepage Ads ONLY After The First Article

Have you ever wondered how to show Google ads on your WordPress blog’s home page, but only after the very first article? Well, here is how you do it. And don’t worry, it’s quite simple, and you can’t permanently damage anything by giving it a try. ANYONE can do this!

1. In the PRESENTATION menu, under THEMES EDITOR, find the theme file called “Main Index Template” (index.php).
2. FIRST: Copy and paste everything you see here into a blank text file and save it. This way if you screw something up you can revert back to the original without hurting anything.
3. Find a line of code that looks much like the following:
4. Immediately after that, paste the following: ENTER YOUR AD CODE HERE
5. Save the document and refresh your page. You should see the ad ONLY after the first article on the homepage.

If it doesn’t show up in the right place, just try moving it around a bit and use a little trial and error. Also, remember to disable WP-Cache while you are testing the changes. If your pages are cached you won’t see the changes and it might throw you off a bit. You can enable it after you are satisfied.

Wordpress Security Flaw: Reset Admin Password of Any Blog Without Confirmation!

This is just way too exciting! Wordpress which is THE CMS of choice for bloggeimagers did has such a big security hole! Someone has found a way to reset the admin password without any confirmation and this can have serious consequences.

The hack is still open and can even be applied to the latest Wordpress release 2.8.3

This is how it works:

The normal password reset page asks you to enter the username or email address and if that’s correct then a link is send to the email address associated with that account to reset your password but note that the password itself is not changed and you can just ignore the email and carry on.

But hackers have found a way in which they simply bypass that check and the password is reset by passing a special value in the key parameter of the reset page URL.

This is all you have todo:
http://www.domainname.com/wp-login.php?action=rp&key[]=

Replace domainname with any domain name of a blog hosted on Wordpress and see it for yourself!

Don’t waste time trying this on ProgrammerFish because I have already secured it.
If you also want to know the fix then better search it yourself or wait for my update and until that time let me test this on some more blogs.

Here is a list of blogs that I have tried this hack on. Sorry guys. You can always restore your passwords though.

1) Our very own ProgrammerFish. Cannot be exploited now though

2) TechToggle – I really like this blog though

3) TutPlus – Yeah yeah yeah! image

4) Tutorial9
image

5) Wordpress Founder’s Personal Blog! ma.tt [Am not sure whether its reset or not but I think it is]

6) Noupe
image

7) PKPolitics
image

There are a couple others I tried this on and none of them was protected!

Note: I have just tried this as a proof-of-concept and nothing more then that. You will get an email with your new password and can always reset it yourself again. And sorry guys, OpenSource is not the best thing on earth!

How to Create an Invisible Folder in Windows XP

You Can Make Any Folder Invisible Without Using Any Software Or Program Just Follow These Steps:

1. Right click where ever you want the invisible folder to be and select create a new folder.

2 Right Click on the folder and hit rename. Erase the name of the folder so there is nothing there.

3. If you try to stop here windows will tell you that you need to provide a name. So to get around this with the name field still active hold down ALT and press 0160 on the number pad (make sure Num Lock is on), release alt

You should now have a blank name with nothing but a folder next to it

4. Now click on the nameless folder and right click. Select Properties.

5. Go to the Customize tab.

6. Find and press the Change Icon button. Scroll through the icons until you find one that has no image.

7. Hit OK and you have an invisible folder!

With the invisible folder you can hide what ever undesirables you have. Be it video games at work, pictures of your family or anything else you can think of "wink".

The folder will show up for a brief second if you put it on your desktop. For that reason it might be smart to place it inside a folder or amongst a group of folders.

25 Tutorials To Get You Started With Blender

If you are an aspiring Graphic designer you should be already familiar with blender by now, but if you are thinking about being a game developer or a graphic designer you should know that Blender is not only the best free and open source choice but also rivals all commercial 3d applications out there. You can look at two very detailed comparison here and here. Blender is the only free 3d application compared against the heavyweight industry favorites like 3d max (which costs around $5000+) and the only second application to support all three major operating system.

Why Blender?

* Its free. Better than paying $5000 for a software.
* It rivals commercial software both in functions and features.
* Small installation footprint of 9mb. AutoCAD needs 2GB.
* Large community support with last version generating 800,000+ downloads.
* Intuitive user interface.
* Python scripting API for game logic.
* Third party free plug-in, textures, renderers and scripts available.

In simple words, and with all due respect to GIMP, Blender is closer to commercial products in terms of performance and features than GIMP is to Photoshop.

Hopefully these beginners tutorials of Blender will start your journey towards becoming the next rockstar graphic designer.

50 Tutorials To Get You Started With Gimp

Gimp has been famously known as the “poor man’s Photoshop”, and perhaps rightfully so. That’s a complement Gimp won’t mind taking. While it would be an unfair comparison to make between Gimp and Photoshop, Gimp can easily meet needs of most amateur image editors out there and then some. Since its release in 1995 Gimp has come a long way in to being the most powerful image editing tool freely available out there. With these tutorials we hope to vanish some of the doubts you might have had about Gimp’s ability as a powerful image editor.

What's new in Photoshop CS4 Extended

The "Extended" version adds motion graphics functions and expanded 3D visualization.

Photoshop CS4 Extended adds 3D manipulation. We can can paint directly on 3D models and surfaces, merge 2-D files onto 3D images and animate 3D objects. We can edit properties like light and the ability to create more realistic renderings with a new high-quality ray-tracer.

We can turn any 3D object into a video display zone and can animate 3D objects and properties. There are more single-key shortcuts.

"The 3D painting enhancements in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended save us valuable time by enabling artists to paint directly on our 3D flight simulator models in Photoshop instead of using a separate 3D paint program," says Luis Barcena, executive vice president of databases and modeling for Aechelon Technology, Inc., a leader in real time computer graphics applications for training, simulation and entertainment markets. "Additionally, the ability to perform localized color correction in Photoshop CS4 Extended lets us easily color correct and balance simulated environments and terrain databases using images taken in different climates to achieve a more realistic and compelling user experience."

Photoshop CS4 Extended lets radiologists render DICOM image stacks into a volume that can be viewed from all angles.

Robots.txt

The most basic technique is the "robots.txt" file. This file allows you to tell search engine robots what parts of your site that the cannot crawl. To start, you need to create a file called robots.txt, and it must live in the root directory for your domain. This means that if your site is "www.yourdomain.com" the robots.txt file must be located at "www.yourdomain.com/robots.txt". Do not place it any where else, because it will have no effect.

The basic technique is simple. To exclude all bots from your server, structure your robots.txt as follows:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

You can choose to disable only certain bots, simply by specifying the bot name on the User-Agent line, instead of using the "*" to indicate all bots. You can also specify that only certain directories are protected, with a file similar to this one:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /cgi-bin/
Disallow: /php/

The definitive definitions for the robots.txt file can be found at this location.
